Alexandra Scott has served independent education for 30 years as a school head, teacher, coach, Academic Dean and counselor. She has been the Director of Development at the National Center for Transgender Equality, a leader in the emerging transgender movement, educational consultant, blogger and author of Prep School Transgender, an article published in the summer 2014 issue of Independent School magazine and the Leadership column in the spring 2016 issue of The Yield magazine (SSATB). In addition, Alex has deep experience in the social justice movement as a press liaison for SCLC at Resurrection City, as the organizer of the Free Summer Tennis Day Camp program in DC, as the director of a free breakfast program for economically disadvantaged children, as the fund raiser and developer of summer enrichment and remediation programs for economically disadvantaged children in schools, and as a long time advocate for diversifying admissions and hiring practices in independent education.
Alex is a graduate of The Sidwell Friends School, has a B.A. from Hiram College and a Masters of Divinity and a Masters of Theology from Duke University. In addition to her experience as a school leader and teacher, she was a certified school counselor and highly successful tennis and basketball coach. Alex is located in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area.
